Ms. L's Boudoir Session

Like most clients, Ms. L wanted a gift that her future hubby would love! She knew he wouldn't expect it so it was the perfect gift to make his jaw drop. Ms. L showed up to the studio a little bit nervous but as she posed in front of the camera, she became more and more comfortable in front of the camera. What started as a gift for her future hubby turned into a beautiful gift and keepsake for herself!

What made you decide on doing a boudoir session?

I am getting married soon and wanted to give my soon to be husband a gift he would never expect.

How did you decide on what to wear? Did you bring any meaningful accessories? Did the Pinterest board created for you help?

I came to my shoot with a MILLION different outfits. I was so busy the weeks leading up to my shoot that I really didn’t have time to think about what I was going to wear or even try on some of the clothes I bought. It was so hard with my fiancé always home! Since I was so busy during the time of my shoot the Pinterest board helped me out SO much! I think I ordered more than half of what was on there and even things I did not purchase it showed me “similar items” on the site which was a bonus. I’m not a accessory type of person so the only thing I brought a veil. I scrolled through some AMAZING photos that Annika did with veils and they were so beautiful I wanted to recreate that look.

Let's talk about the day of the shoot. Were you nervous before arriving? How did you feel being in front of the camera?

SO I was so nervous! So nervous that on my way there I was so dehydrated and even thought about turning around - just thinking the worst. After arriving to the studio and getting my hair and makeup done I completely forgot about how nervous I was. The makeup artist, Annika and I were chatting away that I didn’t even think of it until the makeup artist said “So are you nervous”! Once Annika explained the shoot and poses to me I felt 100X better.

Tell me about the experience you had during the session. Were the poses what you expected? Did you have fun?

The shoot itself was so much fun and somewhat of a workout! I had so much fun being a model for the day. Before my session I have never had a photo shoot, other than business head shots. The poses were not what I expected, I expected just laying around and not moving around as much. But Annika had me making poses I’ve never done before!

I always have to ask, were you sore the next day from the poses?

YES! My lower back was so sore from arching it all day and my calves too! Pointing my toes might of been the only thing I truly did not enjoy! LOL

What were your first thoughts when you saw your images? Have you noticed a mental shift in the way you view your body since doing the shoot?

I remember the first image Annika showed me and I thought HOLY SHIT that does not even look like me. I was so amazed with the way she made me look and I felt so much better about the shoot and that is when I knew it would be so much fun!

Do you have any advice or tips for ladies who are thinking about doing a session?

JUST DO IT! This originally was a gift for my fiancé but after seeing the first photo and the way it made me feel it turned into a gift for myself instead of him. I was so nervous about making this investment and doing it but so glad I did because I can’t begin to explain the way this made me feel and now I can have these images for the rest of my life.

What was your absolute favorite part of this experience?

Dressing up and posing for the camera since I normally HATE it but I had such a blast. Annika truly made it a fun experience.
