This may seem like a no brainer but I promise that the experts know what they are doing - and by experts, I don’t mean VS employees as they will fit you to VS lines. To get your true size, go to a specialty or boutique lingerie store. Brands can range in sizing a little so it’s helpful to talk to someone. Bra fitters can make sure you find a bra that you feel comfortable in. Got questions? Ask them! They know all the favorites in the store and can you give you some killer recommendations. And once you have your bra size, then it’s time to go back to VS and shop! (remember stores like that are made to fit the masses, which is why don’t recommend getting fitted there)

All lingerie stores should have someone available to measure you but if you are shopping online, you can definitely measure at home too. Just remember to check the size charts when purchasing!

Measuring At Home

If you can’t make it to a local lingerie store - don’t stress. You can measure yourself at home, all you’ll need is a measuring tape. Start with your band size. Keep the measuring tape parallel and measure right under your bust after you breathe out. Make sure you expel all air from your lungs so that this measurement is as small as possible.  With your arms at your side, measure at the fullest part of your bust. Subtract your band measurement from your cup measurement.

For example, 38” (over measurement)– 36” (under measurement) = 2” or Cup “B” The size would be 36B.

Try-On Everything

Try on everything, and I actually mean everything. Try on the styles you think are okay or not for you - you might surprise yourself with what styles you love. Some bras will fit better than others and you just have to find the style that fits your body best. If you are shopping for your session, think about the final images and what kind of vibe you are going for. You may prefer bralettes over demi bras, and that’s okay!

When making sure the bra fits correctly, make sure your straps are snug on your shoulders but loose enough to slide to fingers underneath. The cups should fit smoothly against you with no gaps and wrinkles and of course, no spilling over the tops.  The center-piece of your bra should also lay flat against you without buckling.  When you are trying them on, throw your top on to make sure you love the look under your clothing.

Have fun shopping ladies! And if you need any other tips or tricks, I am always just an email away :)
