Finding the Perfect Boudoir Photographer

Boudoir is such an intimate experience. Whether it’s for your wedding, your birthday, an anniversary, you want to make sure you are finding someone that you feel comfortable with! It can be hard getting practically naked in front of the camera, so finding someone who makes the process a bit easier is an important factor when choosing your photographer. There are so many different photographers out there that you are bound to find the one that is perfect for you. If you are thinking of booking a session soon and don’t know where to look, here are a few simple tips to find the perfect photographer for your needs.

Chat Before Booking

One thing I always recommend doing is setting up an initial chat before you end up booking with them. It’s a great way to get to know the photographer and vice versa. This is a good opportunity to ask any and all questions! Usually, once you pay for your session it’s nonrefundable so you want to make sure you are 100% confident that this is the right photographer for you and your vision.

Photography Style

Every photographer has their own style of shooting and editing. It’s important to find a photographer that you already love their work! Most photographers have a signature style and you will be able to see it in their portfolio, website, or even social media platforms. You never want to ask a photographer to mirror someone else’s style so it’s important to find someone that you already love their work. Trying to copy and replicate someone else’s work is not easy for a photographer because it usually takes years to develop your own unique style.

Timeline

Every photographer has their own set of timelines for products and payments. It’s important to discuss all of this before booking! If you are booking a session as a gift or something special, be sure to find out if you will get everything completed in time for your deadline. If it’s something that can’t be done, see if you can rush the process for an added fee. If not, you may have to find another photographer that has different guidelines.

Word Of Mouth

Ask around! See if your friends have had a boudoir session before. If they loved their photographer they may be able to give you a quick rundown on their process. I always recommend asking your friends and loved ones, if it’s something you are comfortable with. If you know someone that has used that same photographer before, chances are you will love them too!

These are just a few simple tips to help you find your perfect photographer. Be sure to do your research! Boudoir is an intimate photoshoot and being uncomfortable will completely change the outcome of your photos. I want to make sure you are prepared and confident with your choice because boudoir is such an amazing and life changing experience! <3
