Tips for Picking The Perfect Boudoir Wardrobe
Picking out the perfect outfits for your shoot isn’t always the easiest task. For some clients, it’s the fun part of the whole entire process. For others, it’s the absolute hardest and the part that they are dreading! I always tell my clients that it doesn’t matter what you wear, you are going to look absolutely amazing whatever you wear, but I know how important it is to pick the pieces that you love the most. Because every session is totally different and customized for you, I put together a Pinterest board full of wardrobe recommendations. From hair and makeup ideas all the way down to shoes, I completely have you covered!
If you are still feeling a little stressed about picking out what to wear, here are a few of my favorite tips that I always tell my clients.
Try It On
Things look different on the hanger than they do on our body. Some things look not so appealing while hanging up but can be oh so jaw dropping when we put them on. Teddies are one of those things that look a little intimidating on the hanger but they look unbelievable on! Another reason I always recommend trying everything on is to make sure it fits. I know that may sound silly but there is nothing worse than trying it on for the first time at the shoot and finding that you don’t love the fit, color, or style.
Classic Looks
Stuck on what to look for?! Always start with the classics. From your everyday bra and panty set to a teddy or bodysuit, these are great options for sessions. They are classic pieces but they have so many options out there now that you can really find something in the style you are looking from.
Shop Your Closet
Some of my favorite client looks are pieces that they pulled from their closet. It may sound crazy but your closet is packed full of clothes that embody your personality! From cardigans to jackets to even casual t-shirts, all of these pieces can be worn on their own or paired with lingerie looks. I always recommend giving your closet a good once over before you come in for a session. Think about the different ways that you can incorporate some of your favorite pieces that you own!
Utilize Your Pinterest Board
When you book a session with me, you get a full consultation to talk about all things wardrobe. I’ll ask you all kinds of questions about your style, where you like to shop, etc. Once we go over all things you love and don’t love, I’ll put together a Pinterest board with recommendations that are customized just for you. I highly recommend using your board as a starting point. Do you have to buy everything or even anything on the board? Of course not! But I want you to look at it to get inspiration at the very least. I love showing you some pieces that you may not expect to wear to a boudoir session. You may even find some pieces that you absolutely love!
Remember, it honestly doesn’t matter what you wear to the session it matters how you feel in the pieces. I want you to feel like your best self in front of the camera. If you have any questions at all during your planning process, feel free to reach out to me at any time to go over your wardrobe ideas.
