(Unexpected) Self Care Tips Leading Up To Your Session
It’s easy to get stuck in a rut any time of year. When life gets busy, I tend to throw more and more of myself into my work and focus less on my self-care. I’m sure you’ve been there too. I get it. It’s easy to get stuck in this cycle and eventually, you hit a wall where you need to do something to get back on track.
It’s so important to focus on self-care in your daily life, but this is especially true if your session is coming up! Don’t let the stress of life ruin this incredible experience for you.
I’m sharing with you easy self-care ideas to help inspire you! These are probably not the tips you would be expecting to get from a boudoir photographer, but that doesn’t they don’t work wonders!
Read - One thing I never have time to do is read! It doesn’t matter if it’s a magazine, book, self-care book, etc. but I love making time to read. Whether it’s for work or for pleasure, it’s so nice to sit down and relax for a few minutes to read a book I’ve been eyeing for a while. Find some time during your day to sit down and read!
Sleep - Get your sleep in girl! We all get grouchy when we don’t have enough sleep, and I totally get the want to cut down on sleep if you’re busy but don’t let your to-do list give your sleep guilt! Set a bedtime for yourself and try to stick with it a week or two before your session. You will feel so much better in your day to day life and it will show in your skin and mood!
Treat Yo Self - Everyone jokes about treating themselves but seriously, you should. Find something that makes you feel SO GOOD, whether that is a massage, a yoga class or even a manicure - just schedule it into your life. Do something for YOU every single week but specifically the week of the session. It’ll already help you feel amazing before the day of your shoot is even here!
Spend Time With People You Love - If you are feeling stressed or anxious about the session, schedule in a date with your girlfriends. It’s important to spend time with loved ones and just have some fun! Remember, It’s okay to be choosey with people that you spend time with - don’t waste your energy on people who drain you (especially when you’re about to venture into the world of boudoir!).
Hope these tips give you some inspiration to self-care! If you have any fun tips you do before a big event, or a boudoir session (if you’ve done more than one), let me know! I am always curious!
