Mrs. D's Boudoir Session
Mrs. D came to me wanting to do a boudoir session for her husband's birthday present. She wanted a unique gift that not only would knock his socks off but something that they both could look back on later. Mrs. D came to the session a little nervous, which is totally expected, but she got so comfortable in front of the camera as the shoot went on. One of my favorite things that she brought in was her earrings from her wedding day. It was the perfect way to add in a little extra special touch to her session to make it more meaningful.
What made you decide on doing a boudoir session?
For my husbands 30th, I wanted to give him a unique gift that we can look back on.
How did you decide on what to wear? Did you bring any meaningful accessories? Did the Pinterest board created for you help?
I pretty much bought everything that you suggested on Pinterest! I don't purchase lingerie often, so I took your suggestions on what you thought would photograph well and work for my skin tone/shape. I wore earrings that I also wore on my wedding day, which I have been looking for another occasion to wear since!
Let's talk about the day of the shoot. Were you nervous before arriving? How did you feel being in front of the camera?
SO nervous! I don't really like having my picture taken, but you put my nerves quickly at ease! After the first few shots, I definitely felt more and more comfortable.
Tell me about the experience you had during the session. Were the poses what you expected? Did you have fun?
I had a lot of fun! More fun that I was expecting. The poses were definitely what I was expecting, based on the boudoir photos I have seen in your portfolio, but it looks easier than it is! Holding one position for a long time and remembering to breath (and keeping my mouth slightly open!) was a challenge!
I always have to ask, were you sore the next day from the poses?
YES! I actually drove home with my seat heater on!
What were your first thoughts when you saw your images? Have you noticed a mental shift in the way you view your body since doing the shoot?
I was shocked that it was me in the photos! The poses felt unnatural during the photo shoot, but the images themselves were beautiful and didn't looked posed. I definitely have seen myself differently since the photo shoot. I have struggled with insecurities and this made me feel more comfortable in my own skin and love my body.
Do you have any advice or tips for ladies who are thinking about doing a session?
Don't hesitate! Everyone deserves to feel beautiful and sexy.
What was your absolute favorite part of this experience?
The whole experience was a lot of fun, but the best part was seeing my husbands reaction to the photos!!
