3 Tips For Keeping a Strong Relationship

Relationships are one of the best things to go through in life but as time goes on and life gets busy, it definitely takes a lot of hard work to keep it growing.  If you have been in a relationship for years, it's easy to forget to keep dating each other! You get so comfortable and sometimes it can lose that initial spark that you once had. Here are a few simple tips for keeping that strong relationship going.

Self Care

You may be thinking I am crazy, but self care is so important when you are in a relationship! You can get used to taking care of others that you forget to take care of yourself.  But, you have to make sure you are taken care of before you can take care of someone else. Eventually, you will start to lose yourself and maybe even start to resent your partner. Take time for you so that you can be the best you can be in all aspects of your life, including your relationship.

Keep Communicating

Even if you have been together for years, you may be thinking that your partner can totally read your mind. As much as I wish that was true, you always need to communicate with your partner about things that are going on. Even if it is something as simple as a Birthday present that you really want, drop a hint! We can have really high expectations sometimes, but be sure to remind yourself that your partner cannot read your mind, just like you can't read their mind either. With life being so busy, sometimes it can be hard to really sit down and talk to each. Try different things to stay in touch during the day, from emailing to calling each other on your lunch hour, be sure to communicate!

Date Night

Schedule in a date night once a week or every other week. Taking time to have a special night out just for the two of you will help keep that spark alive. Be sure to schedule it in because if you don't make time for it your busy life will start to take over your schedule!
