Mrs. K's Boudoir Session

Mrs. K is a past client of mine and I was so excited when she contacted me for her second session. She wanted to surprise her hubby with another shoot and I'm sure he absolutely loved the photos. From the lingerie to the poses, her session came out absolutely stunning!

What made you decide on doing a boudoir session?

This was actually my second shoot! I decided on boudoir because it makes the photos feel extra special for my husband. It’s a gift we can both appreciate and keep between ourselves. It was a great way to show my husband how confident and beautiful I feel and I know he appreciates it!

How did you decide on what to wear? Did you bring any meaningful accessories? Did the Pinterest board created for you help?

I had a few ideas of what I wanted to wear before I booked my shoot- a few outfits I knew I liked already, but the Pinterest board really helped me get a better idea of what was out there. As for special accessories,  my husband is in the military- and actually him being away for almost a year with the military was inspiration for my shoot! I brought some of his clothes and uniform accessories to show him I was thinking of him while we were apart. The military has played such a big role in our lives I wanted that to show in my photos.

Let's talk about the day of the shoot. Were you nervous before arriving? How did you feel being in front of the camera?

Oh yes I was nervous! I am a quiet and reserved person so being in front of a camera totally terrifies me. But once we got started I felt more comfortable and just went with it!

Tell me about the experience you had during the session. Were the poses what you expected? Did you have fun?

Since this was my second boudoir shoot I sort of knew what to expect. I knew the poses would be awkward feeling but the photos would look amazing. Luckily Annika talked me through every pose! I definitely had fun and kept imagining what my husband will think when he sees my photos!

I always have to ask, were you sore the next day from the poses?

Yes! Not overly sore but I definitely felt tightness in my back and feet...but totally worth it!

What were your first thoughts when you saw your images? Have you noticed a mental shift in the way you view your body since doing the shoot?

My initial thought was “damn...I look good!” It’s been a great experience for me to see myself this way. I’ve always struggled with feeling confident with the way I look but having boudoir photos done makes me realize I am beautiful and sexy!

Do you have any advice or tips for ladies who are thinking about doing a session?

Just do it! It’s not something I would have ever imagined myself doing but I’ve done it twice now and each time I’ve walked away feeling better about myself and strengthening my relationship with my husband.

What was your absolute favorite part of this experience?

My favorite part is watching my husband’s reaction. He definitely appreciates the finished photos but he also appreciates the work and effort I put in to make it happen. It has definitely strengthened our relationship!
