Shooting on Location

Shooting on-location is good to do for so many reasons. Whether it is at a client’s home, renting a studio space, or a hotel room, it’s great to get into the habit of working in new places and getting out of your comfort zone. My top reasons for doing this include:

It sparks creativity. Not being in your regular space lets you think of new poses, as well as discover new settings that work for a shoot.

It keeps you from getting bored. I don’t know about you, but I get BORED with my studio quick if I don’t have a change in scenery regularly. I will start thinking that I need to redecorate or buy a bunch of new things for it. Not true! Simply take some time and shoot in a new location. It will give you a new perspective and make you appreciate your space more.

It challenges you. Not knowing 100% what the space you are walking into will be like is a good challenge. It keeps you from getting too comfortable in your routine and makes you work on your toes.

It gives your work variety. Is your Insta feed starting to feel a little stagnant? Switching the location up is a great and easy way to make your work look totally different. It also gives possible clients a glimpse of the variety you can offer them!

Now with the unpredictability of shooting in a new location, come some challenges. Like what the hell do you pack?! What might you need? Lucky for you I put together a list of items I cannot go on a location shoot without. They have saved me many times! Get your FREE checklist by clicking the download button below.
