The Most Common Bra Mistakes

Bras are one of the first things we put on every single day. It can make or break an outfit sometimes! We wear them every single day, but did you know that you are probably making a few common mistakes?

Sizing

Most women are wearing the wrong size bra! Nothing is more uncomfortable and more annoying than a bra that just doesn't fit. The wrong size can cut into the skin if it’s too tight or not offer any support if it’s to loose. Plus wearing the wrong size can throw off your outfit for the day, and let's be real - no one wants that! The more confident you feel in your bra, the more confident you will feel in your outfit and throughout the day. Get sized and make sure you are wearing a bra that fits you perfectly, or if you want to try sizing yourself at home:

  • Measure your band. Wear a lightly lined (non-push-up) bra so your breasts are as close to natural as possible. Wrap a measuring tape directly under your breasts. Make sure it’s directly parallel with the bottom of the bra band.

  • Now measure your bust. Place the tape at the fullest part of your bust. Make sure it’s parallel to your band again.

  • Subtract the band size from your bust size to find the right cup size. Every inch equals one cup size up. Check our chart below.

Straps

Most women have the straps on their bra either too loose or too tight. You should be able to fit two fingers under your strap. Be sure it's snug but not digging into you. The strap shouldn't be causing any pain but it shouldn't be falling off your shoulder either. Straps that keep falling off your shoulder, might be a sign that it’s time to get a new bra.

Be Sure To Have Enough

Bras are worn just about every day for long periods of time so wear and tear are expected. To keep them lasting longer, be sure to have a few that you can switch out regularly. You also won’t have to wash them as much if you change them out. I try to switch mine about every 4-5 days!

Hand Wash

Okay, I'm guilty of not doing this! I always throw my bras in the washer machine 🙈but to keep your bras in tip-top condition, you should be hand washing them instead of putting them through the wash with your regular clothes. It will keep them lasting longer and you will thank yourself later when you don't have to buy new ones!
