10 Self Care Ideas For Bad Days
We all have those days where everything just seems to suck. Whether you woke up late, were late for work and had a terrible day or just nothing went right, we’ve all had those days where it just goes wrong from the moment you wake up. When a bad day strikes, it’s nice to know a few things that you can do that will instantly make you feel better.
Self care is so important for your health. I try to treat myself to a little extra self care when I have a particularly rough day. If you are having a bad day, try treating yourself to one of these ideas! You will be feeling better in no time.
Bubble Bath
Who doesn’t love a good bubble bath?! Put on some music and soak your bad day away. I personally love grabbing a magazine or a good book and just take some time for me. If you don’t want to read and listen to music, try lighting a few candles and maybe bring in a glass of wine. Take the time to just really relax and let the stress of the day go away.
Read A Book
One thing I love about reading is that it gets me off my phone and away from scrolling through my feed. Bad days can lead to a rabbit hole of scrolling and you are just looking at everyone’s highlight reel. Pick a comfortable spot in your home or in your local coffee shop and take some time to get lost in your favorite book.
Friend Date
Is there anything better than just hanging out with your girlfriends? I love seeing my friends after a particularly bad day. They know me the best and know how to get me out my funk. Whether you want to go out for dinner and drinks or just hang out at your house and chat, you will absolutely feel better after hanging out with your girls.
Journal
Sometimes, getting your thoughts out on paper will make you feel instantly better. Keep a journal around for those extra bad days and just write it out. Get it all out on paper. Write down everything you are feeling. You don’t have to plan anything out, just pick up a pen and write. You never even have to look at it again or you can even rip it up if you want.
Meditate
I love a good meditation session! It’s the perfect way to get all of your thoughts out and just take a few moments to breathe. If you have never meditated before, there are so many great phone apps now that basically walk you through your meditation session. The more you do it, the better you will get at it.
Get Outside
There is something to be said for going outside and sitting in the sunshine! I always feel better after going outside for a bit. Had a terrible day? Take your pet outside for a walk or just walk your favorite loop to get outside and get moving.
Gym
I love to sweat out a bad day. Whether you love taking classes or just taking yourself to the gym, take your bad day out on your workout. I always feel better after I have left the gym. If you don’t like going to the gym alone, try bringing a buddy along with you or sign up for a class. You will feel so much better and have fun at the same time.
Unplug From Technology
Sometimes, I just have to put my phone down and close my laptop. We are all so stuck to our technology these days so it feels so relaxing by just taking some time away. Especially when you work for yourself, it’s really easy to take your work home with you and by consumed by it all the time. I love taking some time to just turn everything off and take some time away from technology for a bit.
Eat Well
When I have a bad day, there is nothing that I want to do more than sit on my couch with a large pizza and a tub of ice-cream but I know it won’t make feel that great afterwards. I love taking some time to cook a really delicious meal that is good for you and delicious at the same time. Drinking enough water and eating foods that are good for your body are absolutely a form of self care to keep you feeling the best.
Pamper Yourself
There is nothing wrong with pampering yourself a little when a bad day comes around. Find something that you absolutely love that feels like a treat. Whether that is painting your nails and doing a face mask or scheduling a massage, do that thing! You feel so much better knowing you are taking some time for just you.
