Caring For Your Bras
By taking care of our lingerie, we can keep our pieces lasting longer and keeping them looking just as beautiful as the day we got them. Really good lingerie can sometimes be an investment so we want to make sure they are lasting as long as possible. If you are anything like me, I used to just put my lingerie right in the washer machine. But, this is a big no no! Here are a few tips to make your lingerie last.
Hand Washing
It is recommended that you hand wash your bras. Be sure to use a gentle detergent or soap so that it is not too harsh on the fabric. Wearing the same bras over and over will start to wear them down so you want to make sure you can build up your bra collection. This will give you more bras in your rotation and require less washing.
Machine Washing
If you have to machine wash your bras that is okay! Not everyone has time to hand wash everything. You want to make sure that you are being as careful as possible with our bras and underwear. Use a mesh bag or a bra bag to put everything in. This will ensure they are washed a bit more gently. Wash on a delicate cycle in cool water with gentle laundry detergent. Don't put your bras in your dryer because the heat will actually make them lose elasticity due to it breaking down the spandex. You can also wash delicate items like panties and slips in the washer machine as well. But you want to make sure that you are putting it on a gentle cycle and using a mild and gentle detergent.
Storage
I know it can be hard but try not to throw your bras in a drawer. If your bra is folded or inverted, it will essentially wear down your bra faster and shorten the life of that piece. Look at different drawer dividers and see if one will fit with your storage. Place the bras in making sure that they are not being bended or folded in the wrong directions.
These are just a few simple tips to help you keep your bras lasting longer. You want to make sure that they are looking as good as new so that you don't have to constantly repurchase them.
