Summer Skincare Tips

There is no question that summer is my favorite season. The warm weather, sunshine and sand in my toes just makes every bad day better. Not only do I love being tan all summer but I feel like my skin gets so clear! From not wearing makeup to drinking a lot more water, I feel like my skincare game gets so much better during the warmer months. Here are a few of my favorite tips to get your skin in tip top shape this summer season.

Cleansing

Hot weather means a lot more oil is being produced on your face. More oil usually leads to more breakouts, at least for me! Be sure to cleanse your face, morning and night. I try to use a light cleanser since I wash my face a bit more often. My favorite is Purity from Philosophy - it's great for sensitive skin and is perfect for removing dirt, oil and makeup.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is great for removing any dry skin you may have. And not to mention, it makes your skin SO soft. There are so many great exfoliators out now that you are bound to find one that you love. After cleansing, when your face is still wet, apply a mild face scrub. Your skin will feel rejuvenated in no time.

Moisturize

With the hot weather, it is so important to moisturize in the summer. It keeps your skin from drying out and not to mention, a great base for your makeup. It keeps a nice layer in between your makeup and your skin and makes your makeup go on flawlessly.

Water

Drink lots of water! Your body is made up of mainly water so of course, your body loves when you are hydrated. Not only will you look more refreshed and awake but it will keep your skin clear and naturally moisturized. You will also feel so much better if you are properly hydrated.

Sleep

Get lots of sleep! While you are sleeping, your skin renews itself. Your older cells are actually replaced by newer skin cells while you are sleeping. If you are not getting 8 hours a night, not only are you exhausted and not as productive, but it is also taking a toll on your skin health. Try to shut down your phone and laptop at an early hour and get some rest!

These are just a few things that I try to focus on during the warmer months. What are your favorite summer skincare hacks?
