Mrs. D Boudoir Shoot

Boudoir is such an intimate experience and it's one of the most special gifts you can give to your significant other. When Mrs. D. came to me wanting to do a session for her husband, I knew it would be something special! She had been thinking of doing it for awhile and finally decided to experience a session for herself. Even though the shoot was a gift for husband, I knew she would leave this experience with a new found love and confidence for her body.

What made you decide on doing a boudoir session?

A boudoir sessions is something I have wanted to do for my to be husband for a long time. I also wanted to have the experience and help me feel more comfortable in my own skin.

How did you decide on what to wear? Did you bring any meaningful accessories? Did the Pinterest board created for you help?

I picked most of my outfits before my first meeting. I lucked out and found a great sale and was feeling very confident the day I went shopping, so it was pretty easy. The garter I wore was meaningful to me and I wanted to make sure to get a photo with it. The Pinterest board helped but more because of the make-up and hair suggestions. I knew what I wanted to wear, but it made me feel better that Annika and I were on the same page knowing the look and style I was going for

Let's talk about the day of the shoot. Were you nervous before arriving? How did you feel being in front of the camera?

Yes, I was nervous, but not until I actually got to the shoot. I felt a little awkward in front of the camera and would have liked to have been more comfortable, but I felt much better toward the end of the shoot. Some women can just start off comfortable and confident, but that is harder for me. With that said, I still had some amazing shots come out of the photo shoot.

Tell me about the experience you had during the session. Were the poses what you expected? Did you have fun?

The poses were a little challenging and pretty much what I expected. I would have liked a few more props or pieces of furniture to work with.  If I do another session, I think I would have a better idea of what I wanted.  The best thing to do is to take pictures of things you like and show them to Annika.  She is sincere about feedback and wants her clients to have fun and get what they are looking for out of the shoot.

I always have to ask, were you sore the next day from the poses?
Yes, and I work out quite often.

What were your first thoughts when you saw your images? Have you noticed a mental shift in the way you view your body since doing the shoot?

When I saw my images during the shoot, I was nervous that I would not like very many of them, but when I went to my preview session, there were so many that I loved.

Do you have any advice or tips for ladies who are thinking about doing a session?

Do some research and find out what you want.  Share that with Annika and don't be nervous to give feedback. If I did it a second time, I would know more about what I wanted and bring examples.

What was your absolute favorite part of this experience?

The shoot itself was very fun.  Getting hair and make up done is such a treat, but nothing can beat the feeling of when I saw my photos and how I should love my body everyday and stop being so hard on myself.
