Prepping For Your Session
One question I get asked again and again is how to prep for a boudoir session. We cover so much during our initial chat and consultation but once you are completely booked and ready to go, you may be thinking "now what?!" You are not alone! Here are a few of my go to tips that will ensure you are ready to step in front of the camera.
Lingerie
You may be thinking that you need the perfect lingerie pieces for your session. Making sure you get just the perfect piece can be overwhelming. There are so many different stores out there, it can be difficult to know where to begin. But, I promise that whatever you wear will be perfect! Think about your favorite stores and where you buy most of your lingerie or clothing - those stores are perfect place to start.
If you are struggling with ideas, remember to take another look at the Pinterest board I have created for you. It's full of ideas that you may be able to find in your closet or at your favorite store. If new lingerie is not in the budget, do not worry! Your closet is probably full of some really great items that you may not even think about. From bodysuits to jackets, there are so many great pieces for boudoir that you probably wear in your day to day wardrobe.
Hair and Nails
Don't forget about touching up your hair and nails the week of your session. If you need to touch up your roots, be sure to do that. You don't want to look back and only be able to focus on your hair or unpainted nails. I also recommend not trying any new haircut or color right before your session, just in case you don't like how it turns out.
Skin Prep
This is the week you really want to be moisturizing your skin. You want your skin to look well moisturized in your photos. Try moisturizing your body at least a few days before leading up to you session. Your skin will thank you!
Hydration is great for making your skin look moisturized and it will give you that natural glow that we all love. Be sure to get in your daily amount of water each day of the week leading up to your session. Not only will you be able to hydrate your skin from the inside out, but you will feel awesome!
Nerves
If you are feeling nervous at all, just know that is completely nervous. Every client usually shows up to their a session a little bit nervous about their shoot. I promise you are in good hands. While you are getting your hair and makeup done, I'll go over any questions you may have about the session. From what you will be wearing to what parts of your body you want to show off, we will go over everything. With a little champagne and some time to relax, by the time your done getting glam you will be feeling much better about your session!
These are just a few simple tips to get you through your boudoir prep. If you are feeling like you are missing out on something, you can always reach out via email and I'll be happy to answer any questions for you!
